REGISTRATION OPTIONS

To partner locally with MADCOTA Cares! SAH Coordination Services you will need to register with either Trilogy Care or MABLE to become an eligible service provider.

If you are a sole trader with no employees, you have two pathways:

Pathway 1 — Subcontract to a Registered Provider (recommended for sole traders) (We partner with Trilogy Care and Mable)

Pathway 2 — Become a Registered Provider yourself

Pathway 1 — Subcontract

✔ You do NOT need to register under the Aged Care Act
✔ You can deliver SAH services
✔ You only need to meet the Registered Provider’s worker requirements
✔ Lowest cost, lowest compliance, lowest risk

Pathway 2 — Registered Provider

✔ You can do this as a sole trader
✘ But it is heavy, complex, and designed for organisations
✘ You must meet the full Aged Care Quality Standards, governance, reporting, SIRS, digital systems, audits, etc.
✔ Most sole traders avoid this path for good reason

Which Pathway Is Right for a Sole Trader?

If you want to focus on doing the work

→ Subcontracting to a registered provider or becoming a registered MABLE support worker / service provider is the best fit .

If you want to run a full aged‑care service organisation

→ Registration is possible, but expect significant compliance work.

Trilogy Care Sole Trader Sub-Contractor

Subcontracting

Trilogy’s model is built around self‑managed clients choosing their own workers.

So they need subcontractors who are:

• Safe

• Insured

• Qualified for the services they offer

• Able to invoice correctly

• Able to follow the Aged Care Code of Conduct

• Reliable and professional

You don’t need a big compliance system — just the essentials.

Mandatory Requirements (Non‑Negotiable)

ABN

You must operate as a sole trader with an active ABN.

Police Check

Must be current (usually within 3 years).

NDIS Worker Screening

Some Trilogy clients require it. Trilogy often prefers it because it covers higher‑risk categories.

Public Liability Insurance

Typically $10 million cover.

Qualifications for the services you provide

Examples:

  • Personal care → Cert III Individual Support

  • Domestic assistance → No formal qualification required

  • Social support → No formal qualification required

  • Gardening/maintenance → Experience + insurance

  • Nursing → AHPRA registration

Vaccination compliance

Depending on state requirements and client needs.

Ability to follow the Aged Care Code of Conduct

This applies to all aged‑care workers, including subcontractors.

How Invoicing Works

As a subcontractor:

  • You invoice Trilogy Care directly

  • Your services are GST‑free (aged care exemption)

  • You get paid by Trilogy, not the client

  • You must include service dates, times, and descriptions

If your turnover is under $75,000, you do not need to register for GST.

Expectations in Practice

This is the “real‑world” part that matters:

  • Show up reliably

  • Communicate clearly with clients

  • Keep notes of what you did

  • Report any concerns to Trilogy

  • Stay within the client’s approved budget

  • Maintain your insurance and checks

They want subcontractors who make their clients feel safe, supported, and respected.

On Mable, you are not a subcontractor to Mable.

You are an independent sole trader who uses the platform to connect with clients.

You run your own micro‑business, set your own rates, choose your clients, and invoice through Mable’s system.

Mable provides the platform, insurance, and safeguards — you provide the service.

What You MUST Have to Work on Mable

These are the non‑negotiable requirements for all independent workers:

✔ ABN

You must operate as a sole trader with an active ABN.

This is required because you are legally an independent contractor, not an employee.

✔ Police Check

Must be current (usually within 3 years).

✔ NDIS Worker Screening Check

Required if you want to support NDIS clients.

For aged care clients, it is strongly preferred and often required by clients.

✔ Right to Work in Australia

Passport, birth certificate, or visa.

✔ Public Liability Insurance

Mable provides platform insurance only for sessions booked and invoiced through Mable.

You still need your own cover for anything outside the platform.

✔ Qualifications (if offering personal care or clinical services)

Examples:

  • Personal care → Cert III Individual Support

  • Nursing → AHPRA registration

  • Domestic assistance/social support → No formal qualification require
