So what is an older person experiencing, or at risk of experiencing, social isolation?

According to the definition of our funding agreement with Department of Communities, Disability Services and Seniors we are to provide a focus on groups of older people who are particularly vulnerable to social isolation.

This includes but is not limited to:

  • people over 80 years of age (vulnerability increases with age)

  • older adults living in remote and rural areas

  • older men living alone

  • older people from cultural and linguistically diverse backgrounds

  • older Indigenous people and Australia South Sea Islanders

  • residents of aged care facilities and older people in rental accommodation

  • carers
